A little bit of Georgetown’s History
The five rivers running through and around the city of Georgetown, SC made this area exceptional for agriculture. Indigo was the popular crop at first, but after the Revolutionary war rice, aka “Carolina Gold”, took over. Reminisce of this somber piece of Georgetown’s history are hidden all throughout the county, in most cases slowly being taken back by the marsh and swamp.
